  • Happy belated Thanksgiving!!

Just wondering, when do they announce if/when the next season is picked up? I haven't watched s9 (or s8 as a matter of fact), so idk if they already confirmed during airtime; do you know anything about it?

    • Okay cool. So just double checking, they haven't given a clear date for s10, just that it's in January? I mean, it's only a month away and time flies; I suppose we will be getting that info soon xP.

    • No, they haven't announced an exact date as of yet.  I'm pretty sure that they will announce some more info within the next couple of weeks.

  • Hi there, it was only when I was going to add the official clips that I realized both on Syfy's official YT account and website, the episode title is actually "The Laughing Dead", should the page be renamed to it accordingly? I don't want the incident like CC to happen again, so I'm asking you first. The titles provided on {{ep}} is actually copied from whatever that was originally listed on the template, so if it listed it wrong, stuff would consequently be wrong as well, which is why from time to time I'd be fixing those "typos". If this is one of those situation, I can just go in and add the "The" for this episode, just that I need to know if the page would be renamed first.

  • First of all, a HUGE, GIGANTIC THANK YOU, for successfully retrieving the at-one-point-seemingly-lost edits. It means a lot to me and in all honesty, that was actually the focal point of what I was asking for in the previous thread, but perhaps because of my horrible wording while attempting to explain, it lost its focus and lead to a different discussion.

There are still a few questions, and I'm asking them not to be nitpicking, but because I genuinely want to understand so I can do edits that you, and User:Pigme, want to see on this wiki. Thanks ahead for taking your time indulging my incompetence.

    1. Both you and User:Pigme in the previous thread, along with CC's Twitter and her profile on Face Off's official website, used "CC", but you've renamed the recovered page as "C.C." for first name, is there a particular reason?
      1. I'm asking this because the dots "." were what seemed out of place to me; when you told me she hasn't used her birth name, I buy it and I think your explanation makes sense, so I thought "CC Childs" was what you are looking for. Now that it's again changed back to the original... I'm sorry that I'm once again lost.
      2. I'm also asking this because, in advance, if the dots are required due to the nature of being an abbreviation, should the redirect set for David "Doc" O’Connell be set as "DOC" as how it is shown on the show and official profile, or because it is an abbreviation (David OConnell), set as "D.O.C."?
    2. I've noticed you've taken out all the citation, so am I correct to assume that you do not want any reference for credibility appearing on this wiki?
      1. I'm asking this because, well, if that's the case I won't need to bother giving credits to those where information originated from, less work for anyone and everyone who thought citation was a giving and respectful approach.

I'll probably come back to you two months later if I didn't get a reply. Take your time! Enjoy editing! =]

Okay cool, but can you also revert:

      • 19:41, December 13, 2015 Miss Nocturne (wall | contribs) deleted page CC (Housekeeping: content was: "#REDIRECT CC Childs" (and the only contributor was "Xxsammmsammmxx"))

While your method of wiki-text works (something I do know about, just in case you thought I was ignorant about the basic workings on how to display links), redirects exist to help navigating to pages with several referral names, which is why I have created redirects for people with names unique enough to be exclusive, I think CC absolutely fits this, so I hope that despite I was obviously "the only contributor", the redirect could be back in use again. There's no point of me recreating it if you are just going to delete it again, so I might as well explain why it was created in the first place, and hope you will understand. I did not make up what redirects our for, and I expect you know that as well, but just in case: Help:Redirect.

  • When you have the time, can you reevaluate the last deleted revision of CC Childs? I get it NOW what you want for article names, but in my defense, there was never a written rule so editors could hardly be blamed when there's no clear directions to follow, plus, the article name wasn't even "CC Childs" originally, so it wasn't like I was intentionally changing it to something that's not wanted.

Point is, regardless of the title, I've actually fixed the format on that page and referenced each information where they came from, with using the right template. I understand NOW that you want an image in the infobox, which is something I can add if that page is unlocked, but please do not look pass what's been modified that actually helps the credibility of the article, PLUS, the current version also did not include an image to begin with, so I really didn't, and still don't understand why that particular revision was delete it. Hope to hear from you soon and hope all is well on your end.

    • She was using childs before her name change to ganier. childs is what she was known as on the show. and at some points she has documentation as childs-ganier. she has never gone by anything other than cc in her life not only in the professional field. I warned you that I was going to be slow at contact. I am a writer and the mom of a special needs child. I am doing the edits the way the have always been done since the wiki was first started. it doesn't take rules to see the way it is done. the only reason why some of the eps and artist pages infoboxes are different is because for the longest time they weren't working correctly and I have always made it known that I would go back and correct it was I got the wiki caught up. I told you I was in the hospital multiple times. It was not predicted, the updates during those hospital stays were because of inserts that my other daughter just had to copy and paste because they were already written on my computer. this wiki was around a lot longer that I have been an admin. you know that because you didn't even come to this wiki until I applied for admin.

    • Hi you two. I honestly don't understand why both of you are brining up the content part. I did not complain nor am I complaining about how slow or fast the content are being updated, in fact, I actually think info about the current season is being updated really fast. I never have a problem with it so I really don't get why both of you think this is relevant to this thread at all.

As for "it doesn't take rules to see the way it is done", call me and most beginners dimwitted, but I'm afraid it does when someone does not understand but would like to understand. Syfy's Face Off Wiki:Policy, this is what Wikia has for default:

It's generally best to keep policies as simple as possible, and not to introduce too many rules. A growing wiki can usually do well with a few simple policies and a lot of goodwill and cooperation.
I am sorry that apparently what is so darn obvious to you, was completely lost to me, and I'm sorry that going with what Wikia suggested seems to be a waste of time to you.

I'm also not sure why you two continue to talk about how "CC" is the legit name, what is the purpose of this? Beat me into submission? lol In case you haven't noticed, I have no objection with that being the article title, the problem was that the revision was lost; I am not advocating the page to be titled back to her birth name (aka, according to you guys, duh, nobody does that here), all this thread is about is to recover the lost edit.

Also unclear about the purpose of "this wiki was around a lot longer that I have been an admin. you know that because you didn't even come to this wiki until I applied for admin.", are you saying that new-comers don't get to say their opinion or ask questions? Aren't you at one point also a new-comer? Telling me that you have more experience here truly is pointless, because that's stating the obvious, isn't it?

BTW, you told me you were in the hospital once, and then told me you were discharged, but then again, I don't see any relevance with this thread. Guess it's hard to stay on topic.

  • Hi,

I've been watching a little of what's been going on here, it seems there may be a problem on communication between you and Xxsammmsammmxx?

What's happening from your perspective? I'd love to help if I can...

  • Hey there! Since season 3 already has 7 out of 12 contestants' opening credit screenshot, I think at least for that season it is best to continue that tradition, (imo I'd like to actually continue this tradition and will probably help screen-shooting if I have time), so I left Eric Garcia's page with the intended file name (S03op-Eric.png) as a reminder, please don't be alarmed that currently it is a broken file link; I do fully intend to actually upload the screenshot, just that I will be on a family trip for the next week so the soonest I can do it is a week later, so just giving you a heads up.

  • Hi there! I'm glad to see that you've started to use the contestant template on the newer pages you've created, however, there's other question that's somewhat related.

Can you kindly explain why you undid the edits on Wayne Anderson? I am reverting it, but I hope before this turn into a revert war and you banning me without me understanding the your reasoning (since you did not give a reason at all, which, when in a community, isn't a good sign and which is why I also live a comment as to why I'm changing stuff). Before you jump and say, well, my edit, now the article is missing the image, did you at least attempt to look past the missing image and see what's actually been added? Format takes time to be fixed; I don't believe anyone would be in a particular good mood when the stuff they've actually spend time fixing, was undid without an explanation. I am not some wussy newbie who gets unreasonably offended when their edits get undone, I'm however asking for a basic curtsy and at least knowing WHY it's undone.

The reason I've edited out the image, is because it's a .jpg file, and if someone kindly uploaded a preferable .png version, the image would have be taken down anyways, so I was just saving the extra step. If this bugs you THAT much, I can put the image back, but I won't know what you are so against until you clearly state it out. Communication is important regardless how busy you are in real life.

The other issue is about the intro paragraph. Again, I feel like being completely ignored so I'm just let you know that's how your action is in fact making me feel. This is the edit summery I've had on Wayne Anderson: "it's actually important to have it for the people who don't like reading infobox (yes they exist) or most importantly, should the infobox fail to work properly." Yes, the intro paragraph conveys some of the information that can be seen on the infoboxes, but have you never wonder WHY it's like that? Not only it's like that one MOST OF THE EXISTING PAGES ON THIS WIKI, but on most wiki base sites as well (aka Wikipedia). Otherwise, using your logic of no duplicate information, you wouldn't get to read what nationality, birth name, birthdate, actor or actress are because those infomation can be seen on the infobox, too, which is false cuz you can totally still read them on most intro paragraphs.

I also strongly suggest that if you have a clear vision on what you think this wiki should be looking like and what editors should be following, edit the Syfy's Face Off Wiki:Policy so people can actually read and follow, and not just undoing stuff without explanation.

Just to be clear, during the time when you've allowed me to keep the admin status, I was not goofing around, in fact, I've been testing on my test wiki (view the navigation bar, the part that says "The show") trying to find a way to fit as many info as I could with the limit Wikia set out; obviously it's no easy task and I'm now stepping away from it since I did not get the impression that anything I'm trying to do is remotely appreciated here, in fact, with the lack of communication I actually get the feeling like perhaps I'm actually in the way of how you prefer to run stuff and how perhaps it's just easier to ignore me to prevent further unpleasant confrontation or something. If that's unfortunately the actual case, then I guess you'd be glad to see that I will not be on this Wiki often, like I've originally planed, it was always only meant for dropping by and doing some quick fixes. With the lack of responds this wiki honestly does not make me feel welcomed or have a friendly sense that a healthy community should have. I wish you the best luck on handling this wiki.

Like I said, I'm now going to undo the unexplained revert, but add back the image (cuz that's honestly the only thing I can think of that might be ticking you off), but if it's once again reverted without proper explanation, then I am afraid that'd be the last straw. I'm a firm believer that you have actual reason for the said undid instead of it being something "personal" (aka, no, I do not think you are wasting both of our time just to piss me off because you have the right to), but it's only going to feel "personal" when there the reason is contented to be unspecified. Imagine today it's not me doing the edit and just any other editor, does it make it alright to just do what you did and expect people to understand why you did it? Or do you not think it's important for people to understand first before blindly following?

    • The images are quite a bit at times, the only way people know for sure that page is what they are looking for. For instance, if someone was watching a season, but couldn't remember the artist name they can see the main image to clarify.

        Loading editor
    • Okay! Thanks for finally explaining this! It makes sense now! For some reason I didn't factor people not remembering the contestants' names (episodes' names are harder for me). Though, next time, like I said, if the image is the issue (which I would avoid from removing from now on), can you just fix the issue itself (adding the image back), instead of undoing all the other tweaks from the previous edit (consequently reverting back to the wrong template and erasing some sources)? I would never do an edit just to remove the image, and you should always check the edit history if what was changed wasn't obvious to your eyes. Missing image obviously would stand out, but there's always more to that.

  • Hi, I'm genuinely REALLY curious, like, is there a specific reason as to why you refuse to use {{contestant}} and continue to use the self-made, to be blunt, not exactly efficient or sufficient infobox template?

I feel like you never respond to my question on the topic previously, and I would like to know the answer. Cuz honestly, it really makes zero sense when there's a custom made template with built in category yet choosing to use a self-made one having to mandatorily add the category.

Also, is there a specific reason to switch the coloring of this wiki? It doesn't really work well with the background (mainly consist of yellowish orange and greenish blue); Syfy's icon may be purple, but Face Off the show generally has a greenish tone during the show's opening with the fact that the promotional images of the judges and season 8's coaches all have a bluish background (yes there's some purple tinge to it, but the blue is dominant), so just wanted to know what prompt you to change it. =]
